Eye Cancer Treatment
Donate for eye cancer care at LRBT
Cancer treatment has developed significantly with more people making a full recovery and leading productive lives long after remission. We are only able to provide this life saving treatment because of your generous Zakat and Sadaqah donations. For most Pakistani’s the financial burden of treatment means that medical help is not an option. By working with other hospitals, institutions and charities, we are pooling our expertise to help as many people as we can.
Adult cancer
Adults often develop eye cancer while suffering from other cancers such as Leukemia, Lymphoma or Melanoma. Eye cancers may not always cause obvious symptoms and may only be picked up during a routine eye test. However, when symptoms are present, they include blurred or patchy vision, partial sight loss, lumps and bulges around the eye and pain. Eye cancer is an aggressive type of cancer that can potentially spread to tissues surrounding the eyeball or other parts of the body, such as the brain or lungs.
Child cancer
Children’s eye cancer is typically Retinablastoma, it is a childhood cancer from which children can and do make a full recovery. However, with all cancer treatment, early diagnosis is critical to not only saving sight but life too. LRBT has been collaborating with specialist cancer units to develop effective treatments that do not pose harmful side effects for the developing eye and containing the cancer so that it does not spread to other parts of the body.
We are pleased to have a team of ophthalmologists, oncologists, paediatricians and other medical specialities coming together to give every young patient the best chance of recovery. We monitor patients and their families, especially siblings if there is any history of cancer to ensure everyone is protected. Patients are monitored for 10 years to ensure they remain cancer-free.
