Scholar verification
“I certify that all Zakat donated to LRBT will comply with Shariah principles of Zakat distribution and use.”
Mufti Abdul Rafay
What is Zakat
It is based on the principle that through Zakat, the prosperous can assist and uplift the poor, help those who are troubled and comfort those in hardship. Every Muslim who is of sound mind and possesses wealth above a certain threshold must donate 2.5% of his/her wealth in charity (Zakat) to the needy who meet the criteria to receive it. Zakat is based on the wealth you own and not income. Zakat can be paid at any time of the year but is due at the end of each lunar year once donors have reached the wealth threshold.
Zakat is our Amanah
At LRBT UK, we take responsibility for utilising your Zakat donations very seriously.
We use Zakat donations to provide medical treatment to restore sight for the blind and visually impaired to help them end the cycle of poverty and dependency. Read more about Zakat Recipients

“Zakat (alms) is only for the Fuqara’ (the poor), and Al-Masakin (the needy) and those employed to collect (the funds); and to attract the hearts of those who have been inclined (towards Islam); and to free the captives; and for those in debt; and for Allah’s Cause, and for the wayfarer (a traveller who is cut off from everything); a duty imposed by Allah. And Allah is All-Knower, All-Wise.”
[Al-Quran 9:60]
