Baroness Nosheena Mobarik CBE
Baroness Mobarik is a British Conservative politician and life peer. She served as Government Whip from 2016 – 2017 and was then appointed a Member of the European Parliament for Scotland from 2017 – 2020. Before entering politics, she ran a very successful IT business in Glasgow and served as Chairman of the CBI in Scotland. She has been a passionate campaigner of human rights issues for many years and has spent time nurturing cultural and business relations between Scotland and Pakistan.
Baroness Mobarik joined the Layton Rahmatulla Benevolent Trust as Patron “to support their hugely impactful and worthwhile work that improves millions of lives every year. We take it for granted that we can easily access health care in the UK but in Pakistan, this is a right for only a few. I am supporting LRBT to ensure eye health care becomes a right for all.”

Our Board of Trustees are the governing body responsible for setting strategy and overseeing operations. Trustees bring a diverse range of knowledge, skills and experience and working closely with the CEO, provide oversight advice and guidance. Each trustee serves a term lasting 3 years and volunteer their time to support the work of LRBT.

David is the Chairman of LRBT UK and has been on the Board of Trustees since 2008 and is also a trustee of The Layton Rahmatulla Benevolent Trust (LRBT) in Pakistan.
He is a senior investment banker having spent over 30 years specialising in the energy and natural resources sectors.
Educated in Toronto and London, he now divides his time between Canada and the United Kingdom. His philanthropic interests focus on Education and Healthcare, the two areas he advocates “help transform people’s lives”.

Art is a British-Pakistani actor who achieved international fame through his work in British films and television as well as Hollywood movies.
Art has deep connections to the charity where his father, an ophthalmologist volunteered after his retirement and Art is continuing the legacy. “There was a quiet nobility in my father’s philanthropy and that is something we all try to emulate.”

Jehangir runs a successful accountancy firm in London. Born and educated in Pakistan, he still has close ties to the country and visits frequently. He is a member of the finance and audit committee and has been a Board member since 2006.
“Having observed at first hand the charitable work in this field by LRBT, I was convinced about supporting this charity. I wanted to make a difference to human beings who are suffering and can least afford to avail the basic quality of life and sight, especially where these facilities are not easily available.”

Rahila Zakir is a vitreoretinal surgeon at the Western Eye Hospital in London. She is an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine, Imperial College London and currently involved in research in retinal disease.

Vaiz worked as a chartered accountant for major global companies in the Middle East during his career spanning 45 years. Vaiz is the longest serving trustee, helping to raise awareness and funds for GLT from the Middle East. He is a published author and keen traveller.
“I knew Graham Layton and having seen the profound gratitude people showed him wherever he went, I was convinced that in supporting this mission, I could help bring tangible benefit to the underprivileged too.”

Khalid is a Chartered Tax Adviser and Chartered Accountant who runs a successful accountancy practice in London. He has over 30 years of professional experience in accounting, auditing, taxation, probate, financial advisory and business development.
He has also appears regularly in live TV programmes, and lectures in professional seminars.
Khalid was “Immensely impressed by LRBT, particularly the professionalism, courtesy and empathy shown with which they deliver their services to eye patients.”
